Obesity and diabetes disproportionately affect low-income and ethnic/racial minorities. Unhealthy food environments promote a low-quality diet and energy overconsumption, leading to obesity and poor control of diabetes and other chronic diseases. My research aims to understand how health policies that facilitate a healthy food environment improve health and prevent the onset of non-communicable diseases, with the potential to reduce health disparities.
