Welcome to Stanford Impact Labs' Faculty Corner

We are thrilled faculty from across the university are participating in our impact lab design fellowships, leading start-up impact labs, and working in clinics and communities as scholars in service.

We make staged and sequenced investments to catalyze impact labs that bring leaders in government, business, nonprofits and the university together to tackle concrete, real-world social problems with new evidence and practical solutions. The following opportunities are open to faculty from across the university:

  • Impact Lab Design Fellowships for faculty who want to conceptualize new impact labs. The program provides  funding, training, and mentoring for a cohort of faculty each year.
  • Start-Up Impact Lab Funding supports teams that have made significant progress defining the problem, conducted initial discovery about how they might approach the issue, and have a strong partnership in place. Start-up funding is allocated on a competitive basis, judged by expert reviewers in the academic area and leading practitioners in our network.

Together with the Haas Center for Public Service, we also run a Scholars in Service program so faculty can pursue in-depth, hands-on learning within public service organizations to generate new research insights and accelerate promising approaches to intractable social issues. The program provides financial and staff resources to identify and support placement for a summer, quarter, or up to a year in public sector agencies and nonprofit organizations.  Learn more about our first three recipients.

Our design fellowship, start-up lab funding, and scholars in service cycle is currently closed.
